What is caught on the Volga in July. Fishing for bream on the middle Volga in summer. July on the Volga. Show everything that is hidden

July on Akhtuba is not only good fishing, but also a great time to relax with the whole family or in the company of a cheerful company. Therefore, from July to the end of September, a large number of visiting fishermen and tourists from all over Russia and neighboring countries rest and fish on the banks of the Akhtuba and Volga rivers in tent camps and fishing camps. Many come in their cars, with boats, and live in tents for weeks. Such tourists are called “savages”. This may not be the correct name, but some of the vacationers really behave like savages: without hesitation or fear of anyone, they set up nets and saddles, and after leaving, they leave dead earth and heaps of garbage at the camp site. These are the real savages!

A good rest is accompanied by very favorable weather in Astrakhan region in summer. In July, as a rule, there are practically no strong winds, which often blow in the Lower Volga in the spring. The weather is hot, up to 35 degrees in the shade, and without rain. The water in the rivers is quite clean and warms up to 25-28 degrees, which undoubtedly pleases vacationers, and they enjoy swimming in the warm water. On the banks of the rivers there are sandy beaches where vacationers sunbathe and acquire a beautiful Astrakhan tan. There are no midges in July, but mosquitoes fly out in the evenings, at night and in the morning.

Fishing on Akhtuba and Volga in July- This is the time to catch catfish and carp. Of course, in July you can catch almost any fish living in the waters of the Lower Volga, but fishing for catfish and carp in this month is the most effective. Moreover, the abundance of bottom gear installed by fishermen does not allow them to fully catch such predatory fish as pike and pike perch by trolling and jig-spinning. The heat of the day also leaves little time for catching predatory fish: from about 5 to 9 o’clock in the morning, and from 18 to 22 o’clock in the evening, but this does not apply to catfish. It is precisely in the hottest weather that you need to catch it by deep-sea trolling, but more on that later. Therefore, in July Akhtube It’s better to use bottom tackle or a feeder and start fishing for carp and catfish using trolling, quok and bottom tackle.

Good bite

Fishing on Akhtuba in July is more aimed at catching peaceful fish rather than predatory ones. In rivers, it is better to catch fish such as carp, bream, ide, and silver bream with bottom tackle or a feeder using bait. You can fish both from a boat and from the shore. Float tackle can also be used, but due to the great depths and strong currents, such tackle should be adapted to the fishing conditions. But on eriks and lakes Volga-Akhtuba floodplain a float rod will come in handy. You can use it to catch crucian carp or buffalo, tench and rudd. Bait for catching peaceful fish in July can be a worm, maggot, dough, but the most universal bait is canned or steamed corn. A large carp will happily swallow it and will be nibbled by a small silver bream, which, due to its small mouth, bites off pieces until it is completely eaten.

Carp in Akhtuba lives large and there are many of them. Some previously caught specimens of carp exceeded the weight of 20 kg, but now this is rare; mostly carp weighing 3-10 kg are caught by fishermen. Carp are caught using bottom tackle from the shore or boat, and donks are placed on the shore, as a rule, for the entire fishing period, from time to time feeding the fishing spot. This method of catching carp is called “ Carp fishing"and now it is very popular. The best time to catch carp is morning, evening and night, and it has been noted that the largest specimens of carp prefer to feed at night.

The habitats of the carp in Akhtuba and the Volga are located close to channel holes, from which it comes out to feed in shallower sections of the river. It is better if there are also snags or underwater crabs at the fishing site. True, fishing in such places is problematic due to possible snags and difficulties associated with landing a caught carp, but the chances of catching a trophy specimen increase. The bait used is corn, worms, boilies, cake, and barley shellfish, which can be found at the bottom in the coastal bottom soil. To catch carp, you simply need to use a lot of bait, and it is desirable that it contains components used as bait.

Catching catfish in July can be just as effective as in June, during the period of low water. After spawning and feeding at the outlets, the catfish goes to its permanent habitat - deep holes in rivers, and continues to feed heavily. At this time, catfish can be caught with bottom tackle and using quok. Bottom tackle should be installed at the exits from the pit, where the catfish prefers to feed. When catching catfish using a kwok, you need to float on a boat just above the hole, working with the kwok and holding the bait at half-water. The bait used for catching catfish is a frog, live bait, pearl barley, and a bunch of worms. Some fishermen get rid of themselves by using singed sparrows or rotten mice as bait. Maybe this makes sense, but as experienced fishermen have noticed, if the catfish is active, it will bite at everything, if it is inactive, then whatever you offer it, it will not respond.

An interesting way to catch catfish in July is the so-called deep sea trolling. This is the same trolling, only it uses more powerful gear: a rod with a test weight of at least 100 grams, a multiplier reel preferably with a line counter, braided line with a diameter of 0.35 mm and a fairly large, up to 30 cm, wobbler with a depth of 8-15 meters. Of course, you can use a downrigger to deepen a small wobbler, but why complicate the process with unnecessary devices if there is an alternative, especially since larger baits are preferable for trophy catfish? One of the best wobblers for this method of catching catfish on Akhtuba is a wobbler Mann's Stretch 30+. It is also necessary to use onboard rod holders, otherwise, due to the strong resistance of the wobbler in your hands, you simply will not be able to hold the spinning rod for a long time. This method of catching catfish is somewhat reminiscent of hunting big game, because the caught specimens reach a weight of up to 100 kg, and fighting them will leave the fisherman with an unforgettable experience!

When catching catfish using deep-sea trolling, you need to lay a trolling path directly through the hole and near the dumps into it, the main thing is that the wobbler floats at the very bottom and does not hit the shovel too much against it. This may seem like a joke to some, but best time for catching trophy catfish on Akhtuba in July, this is the midday heat, or rather its start time is at 10 am and the end time is approximately 16 o'clock. Just at this time, the catfish hides in the depths of the pits, where a deep-sea wobbler “gets” it. In July you can catch catfish by simple trolling, but it is better to do this in the early morning and evening in shallower sections of the river near the pits.

Other predatory fish, such as pike perch and pike, are also caught in July. Fish are caught by trolling, jig-spinning and classic spinning. Using a donkey, you can effectively catch pike perch on a grown fry, although if you run into a flock of sabrefish, it will not give the pike perch a chance to eat the bait. Fishing for pike in July on Akhtuba it is better to use trolling or classic spinning in shallow sections of the river. At this time, you can’t count on a trophy specimen of pike; mostly you come across specimens weighing 1-2 kilograms and many young of the year. It is better to catch pike in July not in the river, but in eriks and lakes where there is no current and great depths. There you can successfully catch perch using a spinning rod.

As for the asp, in July it becomes shy, and it is no longer possible to catch it as easily as in May and June on the leaks. Asp in Akhtuba keeps in schools, and from time to time goes out to hunt for fry. The hunt is accompanied by asp fighting and a concentration of seagulls, from which you can easily spot a feeding asp. As a rule, the asp's summer feeding areas are constant from year to year. There are several such places directly near base "Sudachye Place". In addition to asp, in July you can catch perch, sabrefish, chub, ide and large rudd using a classic spinning rod using small and heavy spinners for the current. In July, these fish can also be caught by fly fishing, using an artificial fly or large insects - grasshoppers, dragonflies, etc. as bait.

Fishing in the Lower Volga in July due to the large influx of fishermen and tourists can be difficult to find free seats For fishing. So, for example, when catching catfish by deep-sea trolling, “breamers” greatly interfere, as they occupy the holes and prevent the trolling path from being laid correctly. Donkey lovers, in turn, are disturbed by trollers who constantly catch bottom gear with a wobbler. But, as a rule, there is enough space for everyone and it does not come to conflict.

Looking at the angler's calendar, fishermen will see that July is a controversial month, often refuting the patterns associated with fish biting.

For example, it is believed that with a north wind the bite worsens sharply. But in July, the best bite is regularly observed precisely with the north wind. Often the fish-biting calendar states that favorable conditions for fish-biting occur when the weather settles: for several days the wind does not change, the air temperature remains unchanged. July, from the point of view of weather constancy, is one of the most stable months. However, constancy in the weather during the hottest summer month leads to the completely opposite effect: the fish stop biting. Be sure to mark this on your fishing calendar for July.

Fishing in July

July is a summer month with the most stable and highest air and water temperatures in the central zone of the European part of Russia. The fisherman’s calendar notes that, as a rule, it is in July that water “blooming” begins, that is, the massive development of microscopic algae in rivers and lakes. In small bodies of water, under favorable conditions, this development can proceed very intensively and last several weeks. The algae then dies and begins to decompose. This makes the fish sick and stops biting and catching. According to the fisherman's calendar, in some reservoirs in July there are even kills. If you want to know what the fish are biting on in July, take note of the advice from the fish-biting calendar in July, which recommends using grasshoppers as bait, which appear in large numbers in mown meadows. Grasshoppers are an excellent bait for fishing in July - the fisherman's calendar recommends.

The fisherman's calendar says that the morning, evening and night hours are most favorable for fishing in July, because on hot, sultry days the fish become lethargic and do not bite. It’s great to fish in July on cloudy, warm days with intermittent short-term rain and light winds. In this July weather you can catch fish all day long.

What to fish for in July

The angler's calendar recommends continuing to fish with kwok in July. On hot days, fishing in rapids and riffles with bottom fishing rods, “reeling” and “floating” is very effective. Particularly interesting and exciting is track and fly fishing for ides in rivers, where they are found in large numbers.

What fish to catch in July in southern rivers

In southern reservoirs in July, carp, bream and other fish of the carp family are successfully caught using vegetable baits. In the Krasnodar Territory, fishing for catfish, carp, and pike perch is effective at night. During periods of hot, sultry weather, the bite of any fish sharply worsens.

What fish to catch in July in northern rivers

The fish-biting calendar suggests that in the Leningrad region in July there is a good bite of bream, asp, trout, grayling, ide, eel, catfish, and roach; Pike, perch, whitefish, chub, brown trout, and pike-perch take poorly. In the Perm region in July, crucian carp, gudgeon and, in the first half of the month, bream are successfully caught. The bite of other fish species worsens in July. In the rivers of the Kola Peninsula in July it is good to catch brown trout, trout, whitefish, grayling, in the lakes perch is good, pike is good on spinning rods and on the track. In the southern Caspian Sea, July is the month of the highest air and water temperatures. It is advisable to fish in the sea only after storms, which cool the water somewhat, and only at night. During these hours it is also better to fish in rivers and lakes.

July is the peak of summer. It’s hot, so the angler’s calendar marks a stable average bite for peaceful fish in July. Zhor, and therefore an excellent bite, in July for rudd, bream, bream and bleak. The largest peaceful prey may be carp. Of the predatory fish in July, catfish are caught well on a kwok and asp on a spinning rod, for which the fish-biting calendar is also marked by zhor. Weak bite in July for pike and perch. It is capricious in catching tench and does not at all want to peck burbot in July.

Deep holes, countless bends, riffles and shoals - all this is densely concentrated in just a few square kilometers of the Akhtuba River around the fishing recreation center - the Fishing Village "Trekhrechye".

The Akhtuba River belongs to the Lower Volga basin and is famous not only for its wonderful landscapes, but also for its rich river fauna: the river is home to more than 60 fish species. In the Trekhrechye area there are large numbers of pike perch, pike, catfish, carp, bream, asp, perch. Numerous eriks and small lakes in these places are also rich crucian carp, tench, roach, rudd And crayfish. This creates unique conditions for fishing on Akhtuba in this particular place and attracts fishing enthusiasts and professional fishermen here.

Fishing on zander on Akhtuba. The “fanged beauty,” as many anglers lovingly call him, is perhaps the most desirable catch for any fan of this hobby. Trophy specimens of pike perch in the area of the Trekhrechye Fishing Village sometimes reach 10 kilograms or more.

Catching pike and perch in the Lower Volga. Traditional for Russian fishing on the Volga Predatory fish species can be successfully caught with all known approved fishing gear.

Fishing on soma on Akhtuba. At depths below 10 m, the habitat of large catfish extends. Catfish in Trekhrechye are excellently caught using bottom gear, quok and trolling. The usual weight of caught specimens of the mustache is from 5 to 30 kg, but there are recorded cases of taking trophy catfish weighing over 100 kg. Record catfish - 106 kg.

Carp in the Volga-Akhtuba floodplain it is widespread and, thanks to the abundant natural food supply and local climate, reaches very impressive sizes. The waters of the Akhtuba, Kharabalyk and Mangut rivers have all the necessary conditions for the sustainable reproduction and development of carp. Trophy carp weighing up to 10 - 12 kg have been caught.

Fishing on asp in Kharabali. An active and strong predator, the asp will not leave fans of spinning rods indifferent. The Akhtubinsky asp lives on the ridges, at the edges of the riverbed, and at the exit from bottom pits.

Like any other place, fishing on Akhtuba has its own characteristics. The river has running and fairly clean water. In some places of the river there are sharp changes in depth. These are pits under steep yars, in which circular and reverse currents are often observed. There are also underwater islands on Akhtuba, covered with various aquatic vegetation, coastal driftwood, shallow-water eriki and oxbow lakes, and ilmen. The winding bed of the ancient meandering river is rich in riffles.

Both banks, but especially the left, are predominantly low. They are cut by channels in many places, and also have areas overgrown with reeds, reeds, bushes, sedges and other aquatic vegetation. Fishermen who come to Akhtuba more than once know that on the sharp bends of the river near the right bank there are cliffs and pools with sunken trees and a snagged bottom. The river with all its branches and tributaries forms a rich food supply and provides best conditions for the reproduction and growth of a huge number of species fish

Spring, summer and fall fishing for a particular species of fish will be most successful in those areas that serve as a permanent residence for that species. Carp, for example, is found in deep places with weak, eddy or rip currents. The river bottom in these places should be clayey or silt-clayey, with ledges. A larger number of such areas are located under the holes in the outer bend of the river. Many experienced fishermen use bottom and float rods for fishing from the shore, taking into account the features of the place and the presence of sunken trees and snags. Predatory fish species are caught from a boat or from the shore, also using spinning rods with artificial bait, and using live bait.

On Akhtuba and Mangut, fishing from a boat is the most interesting. This way they catch both peaceful and predatory fish. When fishing from a boat, fishermen generally give preference to the saddle between the depths, the boundaries of the shallows (edges), which protrude deeply into the river bed. It is considered advisable to fish in areas located opposite capes, above backwaters and bays, as well as in areas under steep yars with breaker jets - that is, where the local current draws water from coastal shallows to depth - this is especially true when fishing for a predator (large pike , pike perch, asp). Very promising fishing spots are bottom gutters located on a flat, deep bottom in the channels connecting the Akhtuba branches. There is freedom here for pike and pike perch.

Carp travels along the river in search of food, moving to shallow muddy backwaters, underwater islands and other places that have become covered with aquatic vegetation. The route of movement of the carp from the parking lot to the improvised “dining room” will be best place to catch this fish. Carp often moves in various gullies between shallows, in recesses and narrow passages that ensure its safety. Carp in search of food prefer to move against the current, this also needs to be taken into account.

Attracts amateurs and professionals from all over Russia. Many people prefer to go for rich catches to the peals or delta areas near Astrakhan. The Volga-Akhtuba floodplain is also famous for its fishing spots - a lowland about 450 km long and up to 32 km wide, located between the Volga and its left branch, Akhtuba. An indicator of the high interest of fishermen in the interfluve is the numerous fishing camps.

Fishing in summer on the Lower Volga: reasons for the rich catch

The nature of summer fishing in the Volga-Akhtuba floodplain is influenced by two conditions. The first is the ruggedness of the interfluve with numerous channels, ilmens, and eriks. The second is the May floods and water discharges from the Volzhskaya State District Power Plant. Flood water, filling the floodplain, sends large schools of fish into it. Following the rich food supply, large predators also enter the floodplains in deep water. The interfluve channels are essentially incubators of juvenile fish during flood migrations.

Features and advantages of summer fishing in the Astrakhan region

  • Any permitted gear and types of fishing are used.
  • The variety of channel fishing is due to the presence of strong and weak currents, rapids and creeks, riffles, rugged banks, and underwater snags.
  • Features of the relief - winding channels, depth changes, proximity of shallows and depths - create conditions for the habitat of predatory and peaceful fish.
  • There are many underwater holes where large predators hide.
  • Trophy specimens are found at depths of 6-8 m. At 9-10 m, the number of fish caught decreases, but their size increases.
  • Floods bring all types of fish that live in the Volga to rivers, lakes, and eriki.

What kind of fish is caught in the summer and where?

The Volga and its floodplain tributaries are home to more than 60 species of fish - peaceful and predatory. Trophy fishing is carried out for catfish, pike, pike perch, asp, and carp. The largest individuals are caught from depths of more than 10 m: pike perch up to 10-12 kg, catfish - 40 kg and more. The weight of asp and carp can reach 10 kg.

The main habitats of predators are along steep yars, edges, snags (carp), in places of depth changes with whirlpools and waterways (pike perch, pike and catfish). On the points of the islands they catch asp and perch, and on the edges between the holes - pike perch and bersh. In backwaters, overgrown eriks, lakes - pike, tench, perch, rudd, ide, roach, crucian carp, buffalo, roach.

Fishing by month: features

Active fishing in the Astrakhan region begins in the 2nd half of June, when the fish return to the Volga with the descent of flood water. Due to migration, the use of jig spinning and trolling is prohibited during this period.

The main difference between fishing in June is the active post-spawning feast. Asp and catfish are caught in the places where they hunt for whitefish - near sand spits and rifts, in a small current. Carp - where barnacle shells live: in quiet reaches, in backwaters; at the end of June - on the edges, under snags near the banks, under steep yars.

In July, due to the heat, the behavior of the fish changes. She is active in the evening and morning dawns. Large predators hunt close to the shore at night, in the evening, and in the morning, and go deeper during the day. Pike perch are caught before dawn. Carp and catfish are active in any heat and can be caught all day long. Catfish are caught by quoting, and from mid-July by trolling on rifts and small reaches. Asp - under the breaker jets near the steep yars, among snags and washed-out trees; pike - at the exits of bays, in creeks. Carp - under the steep yars, on the reaches.

In August, all kinds of fish are caught, in all ways. Before autumn, the pike become hungry. Catfish are drawn to holes, carp - to snags, pike perch - to spits and riffles. Active bite of buffalo and tench.

How to fish?

In the Astrakhan region, summer fishing methods are determined by the type of fish and fishing locations. Fishing at depth and powerful currents requires heavy gear, long and ultra-long casts. On erik and oxbow lakes, light tackle and small baits are used.

The main methods of summer fishing in the Lower Volga

  1. Trolling from a boat in the middle and lower water layers for predatory fish.
  2. On spinning with different baits and wiring.
  3. Plumb fishing from a drifting boat.
  4. On the feeder and donk - from a boat or from the shore.
  5. On a fishing rod with a float - along a quiet current, on lakes, eriks, in backwaters with a silted bottom.
  6. Fly fishing.
