So, today, on the eighth of December, the results of the short program among women and the free program among men in the finals of the Grand Prix in figure skating, which takes place in Japan, became known.

Among women, the leader was an athlete from Canada Caitlin Osmond, in second place was Alina Zagitova from Russia, and in third place was an athlete from Japan Satoko Miahara. The fourth was the results of the short program Maria Sotskova.

Among men, the leader was an athlete from the United States of America, Nathan Chen, the second place was taken by the Japanese Shoma Uno, and the third went to the Russian Mikhail Kolyada. The fourth was Sergey Voronov.

The representative of Japan Shoma Uno closed the competition today. He also failed to avoid errors while executing the program, including having a fall and the so-called "underrotation". In terms of total points, Shoma loses to his opponent from the USA, and therefore takes second place.

The athlete has one hundred and eighty-four and a half points for the free program, and he loses half of the point to Nathan in the total amount, having two hundred and eighty-six.

Nathan Chen also made mistakes in the free skate. However, so far this does not prevent him from leading, having overtaken his rivals in terms of total points. As a result of today's performance, the athlete scored more than one hundred and eighty-three points, and Nathan's total number of points exceeds two hundred and eighty-six.

American Adam Rippon opened the free program among men. He had a gross mistake - a fall on a quadruple lutz at the start of the program, but the athlete coped with the implementation of the rest of the elements.

Women's short program

The representative of Russia Alina Zagitova closed the competition among women today. During the program, she had only one blot, and after the performance and judges' ratings, the athlete had the best result of the season, but second place.

The second short program was demonstrated by the Japanese Wakaba Higuchi, and in the figure skater's performance there was a blot on the combination of a triple lutz - a triple toe loop in the second half of the program.

CHISINAU, Dec 10 - Sputnik. The final of the Grand Prix series in figure skating of the 2017/18 season in Japanese Nagoya ended for Russia with the success of the representatives of single skating - the Russians won three awards: Alina Zagitova took gold, Maria Sotskova took silver in women's singles, Mikhail Kolyada took bronze in men's singles .

Triumph of Russia in women's singles

The women's singles tournament was quite unpredictable. Firstly, two-time world champion and winner of the Grand Prix Finals of the previous two seasons, Russian Evgenia Medvedeva, was forced to withdraw from the tournament in Nagoya due to an injury. Secondly, Japanese Satoko Miyahara showed competitive scores at the Skate America stage.

After the short program, Zagitova and Sotskova placed second and fourth, respectively, with 76.27 and 74.00 points respectively. Canada's Caitlin Osmond led the way with 77.04 points. And in the free program, Sotskova, demonstrating clean skating, showed the best result for herself - 142.28 points and a personal record for the sum of points for two programs - 216.28.

At first, one of the favorites of the tournament, Japanese Wakaba Higuchi, and then Osmond, who eventually became third (215.16), could not get around her. Zagitova, having made the most difficult element, the combination of triple lutz - triple rittberger, made blots on the other two jumps, but 223.30 points scored in two programs, in the end, practically guaranteed her victory.

“I feel good, I’m glad that the competition ended well for me, and I also feel relieved,” Zagitova said.

The athlete noted that she was satisfied with these competitions, although she made a number of minor mistakes on two jumps. “There are always blots and shortcomings, so every athlete answers like that. Let it sound trite, but it’s true,” she added.

Zagitova wants to go to the Olympics

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has previously decided to exclude Russia from participation in the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea. According to the decision of the IOC, only "clean" Russian athletes under the Olympic flag will be able to take part in the Games.

In an interview with reporters following the results of the Figure Skating Grand Prix in Japan, Zagitova admitted that she is no exception to those athletes who wish to qualify for the 2018 Olympics.

“I have never been to Korea. Every athlete wants to get to the Olympic Games, and I am no exception,” Zagitova said.

Duet competition

The Germans Alyona Savchenko and Bruno Massot (236.68) won the tournament of sports pairs at the Grand Prix of Figure Skating in Japan, while the skaters did not use the super-difficult triple axel throw. Silver went to Sui Wenjing/Cun Han, who did a quad twist but missed a quad throw (230.89). Canadians Megan Duhamel and Eric Radford (210.83) took bronze with their unsuccessful quadruple salchow throw.

The victory in ice dancing was won by the French Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Sizeron, who set another world record for the sum of points for both programs - 202.16. The previous world record was 201.98 points and was set by the same couple in November. Canadians Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir raised the hall with their performance, but scored "only" 199.86 points and were content with silver. Third - Americans Maya and Alex Shibutani (188.00).

Bronze carols

The reigning champion of Russia Mikhail Kolyada managed to climb the podium in the men's singles at the Grand Prix in figure skating in Japan. In the short program, the athlete pulled off the quadruple lutz and received 99.22 points, taking an intermediate third place, and later kept it in the free program (182.78, total - 282.00 points), despite failures in the quadruple lutz and salchow, and also triple axel.

“I tore off the elements due to the fact that I hurried out of fatigue. I wanted to finish the program as soon as possible,” the newly-made bronze medalist admitted.

Russian Sergey Voronov, who, by his own admission, is experiencing a second youth, took fourth place in the Final (266.59 points).

"It's actually great that at 30 I don't look much older than my competitors here," said Voronov.

The winner of the Grand Prix Final was the American Nathan Chen (286.51), making only two out of four clean in the free program. The Japanese Shoma Uno, who was born just in Nagoya, had a starting quadruple loop with underrotation, quadruple salchows and a flip to plus, but both sheepskin coats to minus. The result is 286.01 points and the second place.

The Russians won three awards: Alina Zagitova took gold, Maria Sotskova - silver in women's singles, Mikhail Kolyada - bronze in men's singles.

Relief of Zagitova and Sotskova's feelings

The women's singles tournament was quite unpredictable. Firstly, due to an ankle injury, the two-time world champion and winner of the Grand Prix Finals of the previous two seasons, Russian Evgenia Medvedeva, was forced to withdraw from the tournament in Nagoya due to an ankle injury. Secondly, Satoko Miyahara from Japan showed competitive scores at the Skate America stage.

After the short program, Zagitova and Sotskova took second and fourth places, respectively, with a decent amount of points (76.27 and 74.00 points). Canada's Caitlin Osmond took the lead with 77.04.

The last speaker, Miyahara, did not create competition for the Russians.

"I feel good, I'm glad that the competition ended well for me, and I also feel relieved," Zagitova said. The athlete made blots on two jumps. “But these blots are insignificant, and on my best jumps, so I’m happy with these competitions. There are always blots and shortcomings, that’s why every athlete answers like that. Let it sound trite, but it’s true,” she added.

Sotskova, in turn, admitted that for the first time she was so worried at the Grand Prix Final.

“Actually, I was worried and quite strong,” said the skater. “I was worried for the first time at the Final. Usually I feel relaxed, I enjoy it, but here for some reason I was worried. there's a commotion."

Injury to Stolbova and Vera Morozova

In the tournament of sports couples, the Germans Alena Savchenko and Bruno Massot won the short program, and immediately behind them were the Russians Evgenia Tarasova and Vladimir Morozov. It's nice for both duets that they beat the reigning world champions Chinese Sui Wenjing and Cong Han, who ruined the parallel triple toe loop. Athletes from the Celestial Empire also looked imperfect in training, once a couple fell during support.

Other Russians Ksenia Stolbova and Fedor Klimov performed well in the short program, with the exception of a lowering of the level (to the second) for a triple twist and an unfortunate fall of their partner a little later. In the free, the duo again made a twist of the second level, made a solid lutz throw, but ruined a cascade of three sheepskin coats, and then a parallel triple salchow. The result is fourth place (209.26).

“I made two blunders, unfortunately, it so happened that in the short program I got a little injury. Apparently, due to the fact that the skate flew off (in the short program) and twisted my leg. And I can’t do push elements in full I thought it would be a little easier, but no, "the partner explained.

The winners of the Grand Prix Final last season in Marseilles Tarasova/Morozov made a marriage on a triple salchow and a cascade of sheepskin coats, and eventually became fifth (208.73).

“We won’t get upset, it happens. Probably. We’ll draw some conclusions later. Well, the performance didn’t turn out, what else can you say,” Morozov told reporters. I don't know if the recession has begun. We will continue to work, there is a little time before the Russian Championship, we will rethink what we have done here, and we will do the programs well at the Russian Championship."

The Germans Savchenko / Masso won in Nagoya (236.68), while the skaters did not use the super-difficult triple axel throw. Silver went to Sui Wenjing/Cun Han, who did a quad twist but missed a quad throw (230.89). Canadians Megan Duhamel and Eric Radford (210.83) took bronze with their unsuccessful quadruple salchow throw.

Censorship of Kolyada

The reigning Russian champion Kolyada managed to climb the podium in men's single skating. In the short program, the athlete pulled off the quadruple lutz, but received a very decent 99.22 points, taking an intermediate third place, and later kept it in the free program (182.78, total - 282.00 points), despite failures in the quadruple lutz and salchow, as well as a triple axel.

Participants of the Grand Prix of Figure Skating 2017/18

Dozens of athletes from many countries of the world will take part in the competition. But the most interesting and memorable will be the performances of athletes representing the main "figure powers". These include China, Canada, Japan and Russia, and to a lesser extent the US, France, Italy and Spain.

Naturally, the main object of attention from domestic fans at the Grand Prix in figure skating will be participants from Russia. Our representatives are able to compete in any competitive categories. This is what the achievements of the Russians looked like at the last Grand Prix.

Women

We were ahead of the rest. The entire top three was occupied by Russians. The best was Evgenia Medvedeva, followed by Anna Pogorilaya and Elena Radionova. On account of their silver and bronze, respectively. There is no doubt that our athletes will surprise with more than one medal in women's single skating.

Couples

The duet Evgeny Tarasova/Vladimir Morozov has the best result. They took the 5th place... We have strong couples, so the fans have the right to look at the future competition with optimism.

Dance Sport

The duet Ekaterina Bobrova/Sergey Solovyov was not enough to get into the top three. The Russian couple became only the 4th. In this competitive category, our athletes are not very strong. But they can definitely compete for medals.

Men

Here the Russians are traditionally bad. Figure skaters from Russia did not even make it to the final five. It seems that there are at least a dime a dozen talented skaters: Kovtun, Akimov, Gachinsky ... But there is no worthy result. Isn't it time to shoot our guys?!

Afterword

Well, we are waiting for October and buying tickets for the Grand Prix of Figure Skating 2017/18. The upcoming competition draw promises to attract more than one ambitious star. And where there is ambition, there is always an irreconcilable struggle and transcendent emotions. Therefore, the audience should not get bored!

Swimming is one of the most popular and record-breaking sports. People have long begun to compete in the water and compare the results: who swims the farthest, who swims the longest...
